Ice out, friends in

The sun came out Sunday, which meant just one thing: Road trip to Loveless! We didn’t care that weather.com warned of seasonally cool highs in the low-60s, we were solar powered.

Curiosity runs deep about the weeHouse and this mystical lake with the forlorn name. Our latest adventurers, my friend Ruth and her oldest son, Zach, climbed aboard the Loveless Train (Ruth’s minivan in this case) and we headed northeast for the day.

For a maiden voyage, it wasn’t half bad: Brunch at the Thirsty Otter followed with a vista of crystal clear waters and verdant hillside from my nearly finished deck. Best of all, they have our gratitude for helping to load in what we hope will be the final batch of drywall.

Friends in high places: Ruth and Zach pose atop the deck with no railing (yet)  after a sunny day of lounging, visiting and a wee bit of work.
