It was a "scorching" 72 degrees last weekend as The Black One lounged on the OSHA-unsafe deck off the weeHouse. Loveless Lake remains frozen, except along the edges, where I spied a diligent osprey hunting for fish.
Seems spring sprung last Saturday and Sunday and then flung us right back to winter. We had three -- three! --- snowstorms last week. Loveless got another 2 inches.
And now, the final indignity: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker announced he wouldn’t participate in the May 4 fishing opener. He wants to fish Lake Namakagon (about 100 miles NE of Loveless), and there’s still more than a foot of snow up there in Bayfield County.
Some northern Wisconsin lakes still have up to 20 inches of ICE, according to the DNR.

Wrong. Just wrong.
